This
is a list of all the rock type of Mull and Iona as given
in the three Memoirs that relate to the area. The names
were simply lifted from the index at the back of each
Memoir. These
Memoirs are detailed in the
Resources
page. The names are simply listed in alphabetical order - for detailed
descriptions, check out the Glossary database,
accessible via the hyperlink at the bottom of the left
hand side icons.
At
present this is just a list of about 70 names - by
sub-dividing various rocks, schists for example, the
list could be even longer. However, it does show the
great variety of rock types that are found in the area.
If anyone has any comments,
or perhaps you know of other rock types that could be
added to this list, please let me know - all
contributions will be gratefully received and credited
